Hot News???! Somebody's getting engaged....is that a good news or bad?
sorry, for not writing up anything in these past few days. It's not like my detective work has stopped, rather that I can find time to be alone with the computer.
My sis has been home for a week now, and she's been tagging along to everything I do. Anyway, last week, one night we were doing homework together, she calculus and my physics. Suddenly her phone rang. She picked it up, read a few lines (SMS, obviously) and gave it to me. "What do you think?" She asked me as she gave me the phone. It was a message from my little sister, just upstairs, from her bedroom. "Dad's been quietly messaging someone. Mom's fast asleep. Then dad is, like, deleting some messages. What do you think he's doing?"
My sis looked at me, asking me my opinion. Well, by right I'd be bull-charging dad that instant.
"Well, I don't know." I answered my sis.
"Did he go back to his girlfriend?" she asked. I hit a pause. Then I said no. Or at least I think I did.
“You know what,” my sis whispered, “Used to be at this time of the night, he’d be messaging his girlfriend (at the time of the affair), when mom is asleep. Then I’d hear him having a phone conversation with someone….in the bathroom! Why do you think he’d be calling someone while sitting on a toilet?”
“Well, I don’t know.”
“Hey, I read your inbox, you know. About that message from dad. Like the one that goes ‘I am tired of explaining’.(Plus, she then told me she read that Lin’s convo message. You know… the one with the kiss).”
“…well, it goes like this. When dad was in China, you know, I quarreled with him a lot. Probably because I spend so much time with mom, and she told me all the classified things no-one told me when I was in college. I was super upset and I confronted him.”
We know that’s a lie. I’ve been up to my head with dad’s hand phone messages. But I think my sis had believed in it anyway.
By the way, I’ve been on a silent treatment with dad since he went back to China, up to the third day, that is. The he finally spoke to me.
“Get rid of that card.”
“What card?”
“The SIM card.”
“…..hey, dad, you haven’t given me my allowance yet.”
“Money, money money. You still want more? (Referring to the threats to sell the phone by me).”
Now, Yesterday’s Story. Hot news.
Xab’s gonna get married.
Not with dad. Not in the near future anyway, too. Xab, she actually has a fiancé named Kazaa. (that’s not a real name, just a name I give, for reasons later I’ll tell you)
How did I know that?
I chatted with Kazaa by SMS yesterday.
See, there is this thing call ed the FriendFinder which enabled me to access locations of anyone I know. So, after I tried it on my friend, (which it pinpoint the location in a lowly 1-km radius), I used it to track Xab.
Oh, I forgot to tell you. Before you request for location, you need to ask their permission first.
Of course Xab couldn’t let me. She called me immediately. I didn’t answer the phone. My friend thought that I was prank calling someone and tell me that I am ‘very mischievous’. “Pick up the phone!” She instructed.
No I won’t. Even after the fifth call.
Finally an SMS comes up. From another person, whom I assumed to be her. Oh, and that number was the number that called me before that. So I assumed it was her.
“Who is this?” she asked.
“Who are you then?” I bet she won’t dare to answer.
“I’m Kazaa. Whose phone no is this?”
I answered “Oh…wrong phone number, mister. I don’t have a friend name Khairil.”
“Can I know, where are you?”
“Why?”
“Your phone number just requested a FriendFinder in my Fiance’s phone. I wonder, who are you?”
Fiance??? Kazaa is her fiancé? Maybe this guy is just another unrelated caller. Maybe…I got the wrong number. It can’t be! I replied him.
“Hey…I’m a female. I don’t get interested in other females (ha-ha, good joke in times like these!) I swear on God! Don’t get jealous over me. Wow….Lin’s getting engaged…Congrats! I didn’t know that!”
“I wonder who are you? Why didn’t you answer when she called you?”
“Silent mode.(good lie. And all my seniors at my table are already getting annoyed with my ring tone by now). I can’t wear handphones here (I bet he assumed I was in lectures). I’m a girl. A guy sold me this SIM card. I’ve just used it. I never bug people (yeah, right). I thought your’e Lin. Swear I’m a girl! I’m only interested in men, excluding you because you’re too furious!”
“Sorry, I wasn’t being mean, but I’m worried if someone’s messing around with Lina (Lin!? So I guess it’s true). Can I know who is this…are you Lina’s friend…Why did you go and FriendFinder without SMS-ing first….I am so puzzled… (Sounds definitely like a guy who could eat me up whole. So scary).”
“I’ve been messaging her before (yeah, pretending to be dad)…she never replied (I bet dad told her about me). As far as I know she never told me about her beau. Now she’s engaged. When are you guys gonna get married?”
“Can I really know who you are…If you’re her friends then why do you keep your identity a secret…”
“Who says I’m keeping my identity secret? I bet you’re not even her fiancé? I always get these anonymous prank messages from guys who told me ‘I’m your friend’ or whatever, with bad pick-up lines. I asked you your marriage date and you didn’t answer. Maybe you’re fooling around with me.”
“FRIENDFINDER: You have a request from 012XXXXXXXX to access you location. To accept, reply OK…”
I replied “OK”. And he got to know that now I’m at the Northern area of the university (not much help if you wanna charge in and slash an assumed stalker with a phone, pretending to be a girl—I get that’s what he thinks of me)
“Your number is.....(what? Why did he leave dotted marks?) I was worried if you had any bad intentions…cuz if not why did you keep it secret and Lina didn’t even reply your message.”
“Yeah, right….hey, your’e not from here, right? Cuz that’s why you didn’t know much about her (if I tell him about dad, he’ll flip!). What’s wrong with my number? Jinx-ed number perhaps? What, it sounded like the number of an ex-boyfriend?”
Nobody replied for like ten minutes or so (usually it takes a few seconds). I bet a)she’s scared to death; b)he’s boiling mad and tried to kill me; c)they are having a lover’s quarrel over the’ ex-boyfriend word’ (I bet he can smell that the ex-boyfriend word is too obvious of a hint).
“I’m her course mate. We grad together…I know she goes to a college in Sarawak. From mother, sister, and brother…I know ‘em all close. I don’t mind if you’re really her friend. But when you keep yourself a secret and (pretend) not to know who you are, I’m worried…Why aren’t you telling her who you are. I ask you if there is a situation like that you’ll get worried, right? It’s up to you if you wanna be a mystery yourself…I’m just protecting Lina.”
“Oh…what love to your girlfriend…I want a boyfriend like that too! ( I bet by know he’s CONVINCED) that I’m a girl) Okay, sorry, forgive me lots and lots cuz I don’t have any intention of messing with you both. Just a harmless prank call, that is. Not only her have I FriendFinder-ed, but all my friends too (white lie). Don’t get mad at me, sorry…”
“Okay. I gotta go to work now. Take care.”
“And you too…take care of your girlfriend real good…don’t let other people get them from you (that’s a warning in a rather casual tone). Ok bye…and again, sorry.”
“Ok…bye…”
Later that evening I came to dad’s office again. He was on a meeting until 7pm, an unscheduled meeting perhaps. I took into his office and go to the computer. Darn it, he turned it off. He knows I’ll be here.
Anyway, I wane to hi s thesis shelves, that’s right, just beside Pamela’s thesis, was hers. I opened it up, and turned to the ‘Acknowledgement’ page.
“First of all,” she wrote, “I would like to thank my Professor (my dad’s name) with all his contributions and help and inspiration (I think I have to tell the board that DAD actually did that thesis. Hardcopy is in his’ computer.
“I would also like to thank Kazaa (full name written) for all his help and support. And I’d lke to thank my mom, my brother, and my sis…..”
What’s the moral of this story? Well, Kazaa really exists, and they are best friends on the time of the thesis. Or maybe more than friends? Anyway, secondly, like Kazaa said, she does have a mother, brother and a sister. Where is her dad anyway? Was people supposed to put both parents’ name too, dead or alive? Mom’s psychic said she has a dad, supposedly now ‘subdued’ by black magic.
Her psychic also told her that dad was over the girl. Yeah, right. And now mom’s putting some payment into the psychic’s bank account. Oh, mom….I think I’d better gets his number and talk to him. But don’t expect me to pay, if he’s a phony. I don’t have scholarship money anyway to spend.
Wow, that was tiring. And jut half an hour ago I send a message back to Xab. It goes:
“Well, what good lie you gave yesterday. Say you don’t know me…and you have all those messages and voicemails sent to me. My convo is boring, love you, forgive me, etc, etc. I don’t care if you have a fiancé and is getting married. As long as you don’t mess with my life. Hope you’re happy with your loved ones…if you REALLY love him, that is.”
